The community of Britannia is located at the southwestern quadrant of Calgary and is above the escarpment of Elbow River. Britannia was annexed to Calgary in 1910 and built in the 1960s and became a relatively small community with more or less 1,000 residents. Britannia was originally known as “American Hill” since according to old taxi drivers Britannia is Calgary’s “old money”. It is also planned as an elite community full of luxury homes that are built on large lots.

Common Britannia home sizes are about 4,000 to 5,000 square feet so buyers that are more interested with a private community with a bigger house will definitely fall in love with Britannia and the variety of homes it offers. The borders of Britannia are 50 Ave SW and Calgary Golf and Country Club (north) and Elbow Drive (south). The streets of Elizabeth Road, Edinburgh Boulevard, Coronation Drive as well as the name of the community itself has a strong British theme to it.
