It was once a part of the Thorncliffe/Greenview neighbourhood until the three communities were subdivided in 1991. Its community association the Thorncliffe Community Association is one of most active and largest community centers in Calgary. As its name suggests, Greenview is surrounded by green landscape by the Deerfoot and Edmonton Trail.
