Located at the southwestern quadrant of Calgary is the community of Millrise. It is bordered by 146 Ave SW to the south, Macleod Trail to the west, James McKevitt Blvd SW to the east, and Shawnessy Blvd SW. This community was named in honor of woolen mills that was owned by the Shaw Family in the 1880s. It is also annexed to the city of Calgary in 1961. The construction of homes began in the 1980s and 90s and had a wide variety to choose from and they are priced affordably.
