Getting around Calgary has never been easier. Calgary Transit’s buses and CTrains carried over 101 million riders in 2024. That’s 12 % more trips than the year before. On a busy weekday, you’ll find more than 700,000 Calgarians on the move, with the CTrain alone carrying close to 400,000 of them.

Fares & Passes
A single ride is now $3.80 for adults, $2.55 for youth, and free for kids 12 and under. If you’re riding often, grab a day pass, a monthly pass, or the Weekend Group Day Pass for up to five people. Low-income passes start at just $5.90 per month. 

Tickets are easy to buy through the My Fare app, which also loads the discounted UPass for students. Pets ride free as long as they’re leashed or in a carrier.

When & Where
Service starts early, runs late, and covers the whole city. The Transit App can map your trip, show live bus and train locations, and keep you updated if things change. 

MAX rapid bus routes (Yellow, Purple, and Teal) connect big destinations like Mount Royal University, Rockyview Hospital, Seton, and Quarry Park, with fewer stops to get you there faster.

Safe & Accessible
Peace officers patrol the system day and night, security staff keep watch at key stations, and more than 1,600 cameras keep an eye on things. Every bus and CTrain has low floors for easy boarding, stop announcements, and upgraded elevators at major stations. And if something’s not right, the Calgary Transit Watch service puts help just a text away.

What’s Ahead
On-demand transit is now serving more neighbourhoods, making it easier to get connected from areas without fixed routes. Construction on the Green Line LRT kicked off in spring 2025. 

When Phase 1 is complete in 2031, it will add 16 km of track, 10 stations, 6 bridges, a maintenance facility, and Park & Rides between Eau Claire and Lynwood/Millican.

Rider Tips
You can bring your bike on CTrains during non-peak hours, making it easier to extend your trip. Park & Ride lots are located across the city, with daily and monthly parking options. 

Extra service often runs for big events like Flames games, Stampede, and major concerts, so you can skip the parking hassle entirely.
